Folks at this groundbreaking the Delta say they're excited about the appearance of the new distilling company in Rosedale.
Martin Smith drove from Inverness just to see what was going on. “We came for the groundbreaking. Excited about this project here in the Delta came to, you know, it's a lot of, it's a lot of buzz in the area about this project going on” said Smith. He says Rosedale Distilling company will be beneficial for the local economy. “Well, it should create some jobs, some tax revenues, some revenue for the area. I believe they're trying to take the product nationally” said Smith.
Rosedale Distillery will not only make alcohol, it will also serve it at a nearby tasting room and event center. Jack Coleman, President of Rosedale Distilling Company, says he can’t wait for Rosedale to its former glory. “Our partners, our investors in this business, are very excited about what what's happening here, and so I think in our we'll have our grand opening in late spring" said Coleman. And he says his tasting room will include a little history. “We're going to have a tasting room slash museum that's called the Mississippi River Explorers Club. And that's going to be all about DeSoto and Marquette and Joliet and Lasalle and the British and the British explorers” said Coleman.
Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves says it will be an excellent opportunity for local tourism. “We've got a lot of tourism going on here in Bolivar County, particularly with the boats going up and down the river, but also with folks from Europe and all over the world looking at the blue and so, you know, we really got a real opportunity here” said Reeves.
Meanwhile, Smith believes that this business will revitalize the local economy. "Just real excited to be here, be a part of this. It's a really neat thing for this town for this area for the Delta real proud of Jack and Elizabeth the owners, and they spearheaded this thing, and real happy that they are doing this for the Delta" said Smith.
