ROSEDALE-The Rosedale Distilling Company has already started its first phase of construction. This project is the largest on the west side of Bolivar County and represents a nearly 17-million-dollar investment by the company.
Jack and Elizabeth Coleman co-owners of the distillery, moved back to Rosedale to create opportunities for folks in the delta and establish the delta as a premier region for the legal making of alcohol.
Jack Coleman- " We are creating hopefully a world class distillery that will be known around the country producing top quality products and creating jobs in the Mississippi delta.
Elizabeth Coleman- " But also for our neighbors and cities along the river, we believe this is going to be an exciting place to come and visit. We hope to inspire others to also come back home restore these buildings."
The Rosedale Distilling Company is not only remodeling this factory, but also historic buildings in downtown Rosedale that will become a rum distillery, a tasting room, and a distillery store. The buildings will hold feature a museum dedicated to the history of Mississippi river explorers, delta blues singer Robert Johnson, and Senator Blanche k. Bruce, the only former slave to become a U.S. senator.
Jack Coleman- " History is a record of where you been, and many people don't know the history of the great and important things that have happen in this area. So, the Mississippi delta has been the crossroads of cultures." So as the Colemans look to attract folks from around the world to experience their product and Mississippi delta, Jack Coleman says his main goal is to help Rosedale grow.
Jack Coleman- " We agreed that we thought this was a great project for our future, that it will be great for the delta, and we have too many places like Rosedale that been neglected, and they don't have to be. Put together a plan and implemented it.
